The FBI warned of an “unspecified” threat of violence at universities in Philadelphia.

The USA Today reports warned students and faculty of threats made against “an unspecified university near Philadelphia.”

The FBI and ATF are monitoring the threats and issued the warnings.

Alerts were sent to students and faculty at the University of Philadelphia, Temple University and Drexel University.

The schools plan to operate normally but students were warned on university websites to be vigilant.

“Although the FBI has assured us there is no specific threat to a particular college or university, we are taking this very seriously and are taking extra precautions to protect the Drexel community,” a statement read on Drexel University’s website.

Could Twitter do more to stop terrorists from recruiting others?

It’s a debate waging in the Senate after an FBI official told Fox Business News that Twitter “needs to do more in setting up teams to troll, monitor and review all terrorist-related tweets and content.”

Twitter fired back that it notifies authorities of immediate threats and shuts down terrorist-related accounts. But a Twitter spokesman said, “Like all of our technology industry peers, we do not proactively monitor content.:”

A 2016 funding bill would require Twitter and other social media companies to report terrorism, but it was blocked earlier this week by Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore.

“Internet companies should not be subject to broad requirements to police the speech of their users,” Wyden said.

Wyden said stopping terrorism is a top priority, “But I haven’t yet heard any law enforcement or intelligence agencies suggest that this provision will actually help catch terrorists.”

Authorities have arrested at least seven people for allegedly threatening police after a man shot two NYPD officers in the head Saturday in retaliation for the recent deaths of black men at the hands of white cops, CNN reports.

Police have been encouraging the public to report all threats so law enforcement can assess the dangers. As a result, seven arrests were made.

“All threats against members of the NYPD are taken seriously and are investigated immediately to determine the credibility and origin of the information,” NYPD said in a statement.

One recent arrest included a 26-year-old who is accused of threatening officers while posting pictures of weapons on his Facebook page. He has been charged with making terroristic threats, CNN reported.

Another suspect, a 41-year-old man, was arrested after he allegedly called police to inquire whether the bullets had been removed from the dead officer’s head so “he could kill more cops.”

In a tweet Thursday, Mayor Bill de Blasio thanked the police department and the civilian who saw something and said something: “Thank you to the NYPD officers who today arrested a man who threatened to kill cops, and to the good samaritan who provided key information.”

The parents of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl have received threats since their son was freed from five years of Taliban captivity in exchange for the release of five detainees at Guantanamo Bay, CNN reports.

The FBI is investigating but wouldn’t elaborate on the seriousness of the threats.

“We are working jointly with our state and local partners and taking each threat seriously,” FBI Special Agent William Facer told CNN in an e-mail on Saturday.

Since his release, some in the military have claimed that troops have been killed while searching for Bergdahl.

The military said there’s no evidence to support that.

Bergdahl went missing in June 2009 as a member of the 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division.

Supporters of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy are finding some more unwanted attention.

FBI agents have launching an investigation into the April 12 confrontation between Bundy, his supporters and law enforcement, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

“I’ve said all along there has to be accountability for what took place on April 12,” Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie said.

The sheriff said the FBI is reviewing threats and assaults on law enforcement officials on the day of the showdown.

Of particular concern is supporters who were pointing weapons at law enforcement, the Review-Journal wrote.

Authorities are on the hunt for a recent Army recruit accused of planning a “Fort Hood-inspired Jihad against U.S. soldiers,” Fox News reports.

A man identified as Booker told his friends of his intentions. He’s also known as Muhammad Abdullah Hassan, Fox News reports.

The suspect was scheduled to be part of basic training on April 7 but was discharged last week after making the threats.

The FBI and the 902d Military Intelligence Group at Fort Leavenworth are involved in the search.

An alert was distributed through the U.S. Marine Corps.

Columnist Recalls Terrifying Days He Was in Whitey Bulger’s Crosshairs

Howie Carr
Boston Herald

Whitey Bulger, you wanted to kill me, but I’m still alive.

And you’re dead. You’re not going to last long in a real prison, you bully, you coward.

I heard you’ve told some of the guards down at Plymouth you would have killed me for sure but you were concerned about blowback on your brother, who by the way didn’t show up one single day at your trial.

First you were going to blow me up with plastic explosives you got from one of your crooked FBI agents. Then you sent out Kevin Weeks with a rifle.

Your edge was always that you had the cops, and you had the pols, and the rest of us didn’t. It was a machine, as Joe Murray used to say. He couldn’t go up against the machine and neither could I.
