Family of Man Killed by Off-Duty FBI Agent Calls for Prosecution

By Steve Neavling

The family of a man shot last week by an off-duty FBI agent at a Metro Center subway station is calling for the prosecution of the agent.

The agent allegedly shot Troy “TJ” Bullock during a fight at about 6:50 p.m. on Dec. 7, just blocks from the White House.

At a news conference, an attorney representing the family said police have not contacted them since they were notified of the fatal shooting, and they have not seen his body.

“One of the most disheartening parts of this for the parents … is the unanswered questions,” Jade Mathis, the family’s attorney, said, The Washington Post reports. “What exactly happened, step-by-step, on December the seventh at6:21 p.m., that caused their life to change forever?”

Surveillance video shows the agent confronting Bullock after he approached a person holding a bag next to a pillar.

The pair then got into a fight, and the agent fell about eight feet off a subway platform. As they continued to fight, the agent fatally shot Bullock, police said. Several shots were fired.

The FBI agent, who has not been identified, received minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The agent “appears to be the victim,” Ashan M. Benedict, the executive assistant chief of police at the Metropolitan Police Department, said at a news conference last week.

Police are asking the public for additional footage of the incident.

Off-Duty FBI Agent Fatally Shot Man at Subway Station in Washington, D.C.

An off-duty FBI agent shot and killed a person following an altercation at a busy subway station in downtown Washington, D.C., on Wednesday evening.

The shooting occurred at about 6:30 p.m. at the Metro Center station, just blocks from the White House, The New York Times reports.

The agent “appears to be the victim,” Ashan M. Benedict, the executive assistant chief of police at the Metropolitan Police Department, said at a news conference.

According to police, the pair got into a fight and fell about eight feet off a subway platform. As they continued to fight, the agent fatally shot the other person. Several shots were fired.

The FBI agent received minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The agent’s gun was the only firearm found at the scene.

The identities of both individuals were not released, but the agent is a veteran of the bureau and is assigned to FBI headquarters.

The shooting comes less than a week after another FBI agent was found not guilty after shooting a passenger aboard a moving Metro subway train near Washington, D.C.

Eduardo Valdivia, who was off-duty at the time of the shooting, was acquitted by a jury that found he was justified when he shot a panhandler who had confronted him aboard the train.

Authorities are examining the airflow of tunnels in the New York subway to prepare for a potential biological chemical attack.

The massive study will involve a small device that authorities hope will play a big role in the event of a terrorist attack, CBS New York reports.

“This is important information to help local authorities enhance their emergency preparedness for an event that might occur in the subway if there’s a release of biological material or a chemical material,” Dr. Donald Bansleb with Homeland Security said.

About 200 chemical tracers will be placed at dozens of subway stations across the city as part of a five-dat airflow test.

“This will tell us in real time data aerosol concentrations and the particle concentrations in the stations after we do the release,” laboratory engineer David Brown said.

“That will help authorities to predict boundaries of contamination if there is a release of a substance,” Bansleb said.

A federal judge in Indianapolis sentenced  ex-Subway pitchman Jared Fogle Thursday to 15 years and eight months in prison for possession and distribution of child pornography and traveling across state lines for commercial sex with underage prostitutes,  Mark Alesia of the Indianapolis Star reports.

Prosecutors had asked for 12 1/2 years, the paper reported, but U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt said the advisory sentence range of 135 to 168 months “does not sufficiently account for the defendant’s criminal conduct.”

The paper reported:

Fogle’s voice cracked and he sobbed as he said, “Not a day will go by when I don’t think about what I did to (the victims).”

“Members of my family are also victims of my acts,” he said before noting that his wife will be a single mother.

“You gave your wife $7 million, so she’ll be OK,” the judge said, interrupting.

Secret recordings have surfaced of former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle expressing sexual interest in children.

Aired on the daytime talk show “Dr. Phil,” the records captured Fogle talking about his desire for children.

“Early middle school is probably the best,” Fogle said in the recordings verified by CBS News.

The recordings were captured by a former friend, Rochelle Herman-Walrond.

“I like all ages. That’s the thing I mean. It depends…who is ready for what. You know, who’s going to give you the glance,” he said in one of the recording.

In August, Fogle was indicted in on child porn and child sex charges.

Ex-Subway pitchman Jared Fogle has reached a plea agreement that would see him serve between five and 12½ years in prison for child pornography and having sex with a minor, CNN reports.

Fogle was expected to make an appearance in federal court on Wednesday.

CNN reports that court documents show that the charges against Fogle are tied to his relationship with Russell C. Taylor, the executive director of the Jared Foundation, who was arrested more than two months ago on federal child pornography charges.

CNN reported that court documents said:

  • Between 2011 and April 2015, Fogle received from Taylor multiple pornographic images of minors engaging in sexually explicit contact.
  •  Fogle had conversations with Taylor about the child porn, but instead of alerting authorities, he “chose to benefit from such production by obtaining access to a significant amount of such material.”
  • The images and videos were recorded by Taylor at his home through the use of hidden cameras.
  •  Between 2010 and February 2013, Fogle traveled from Indiana to New York to pay to have sex with minors.
  •  One victim told investigators she had sex with Fogle twice when she was 17 in exchange for money, once at the Plaza Hotel and once at the Ritz Carlton, both in New York City.
  • The same minor also said that Fogle had sex with her three other times before 2012, when she was 16.
  • Prosecutors say that text messages, travel records, hotel records and a search of Fogle’s home provided evidence of these arrangements.
  •  The same minor said Fogle had sex with another 16-year-old girl on another occasion.

Subway has ended its 15-year relationship with its pitchman Jared Fogle following an FBI raid at his Indiana home.

The investigation of Fogle is centered around child pornography accusations, just two months after his friend was arrested on charges of possessing hundreds of vile videos, the New York Daily News reports.

Subway immediately scrubbed its website of Fogle’s presence.

Fogle’s attorney said his client is cooperating and has not been charged with a crime.
