Homeland Security Officer Accuses Police of Harsh Treatment Because He’s Muslim

At least a dozen officers swept into his Santa Clara home, their assault weapons and service guns drawn.

This wasn’t a drug bust. Police were looking for a stolen $300 dashboard camera that was never found.

The subject of the search, Homeland Security Agent Mohammed Moneeb, is accusing Santa Clara police of targeting him and using excessive force because he is Muslim, ABC7 News reports.

Police dismiss the claims, saying such a search isn’t unusual when a federal employee is accused of theft.

“This response was within our procedures in investigating law enforcement officers, especially in this case, being a federal law enforcement officer. We have the public trust in this case and we believe the public holds us to a higher standard and theft in this case is pretty serious,” Santa Clara Police Department’s Lt. Kurt Clarke said.

Federal authorities said an internal investigation is ongoing.

Moneeb said he was shocked by the police response.

“This has been a pretty traumatic experience for our family,” Moneeb said, who believes that the police were out of line.

Teenager Survives ‘Miracle’ Trip in Wheel Well of Flight from California to Hawaii

A 16-year-old boy survived a five-and-a-half-hour trip in the wheel well of a flight from California to Hawaii despite frigid temperatures at 38,000 feet and a lack of oxygen, the FBI said.

CBS News reports that the boy was questioned by the the FBI after he was discovered Sunday on the tarmac without identification at the Maui airport.

“I would imagine flying (at that altitude), it would be very cold. Also … that wheel well really is not pressurized or temperature controlled, so it would be a miracle to have survived,” Maui Airport Duty Manager Marvin Moniz said.

What’s worrisome to federal authorities is how easily Simon hopped a fence to get on the plane at Santa Clara.

Authorities said he was running away from home after an argument

“He was unconscious for the lion’s share of the flight,” FBI spokesman Tom Simon said.

Ooops!

The publication WIRED reports that a student in  California, the son of an Islamic-American community leader, found a GPS device on his car during an oil change and the FBI came knocking to get it back.

The whole thing started last Sunday when Yasir Afifi, a 20-year-old American born business marketing student at Mission College in Santa Clara, Calif., discovered the device while getting an oil change at Ali’s Auto Care, WIRED reported.

The mechanic saw a mysterious wire near the right rear wheel and exhaust and removed it, WIRED reported. A friend of Ali’s then posted a photo the the GPS device online, according to an interview with Ali.

Two days later, WIRED reported, the FBI came for the device and Afifi turned it over. Afifi said that comments from agents indicated he’d been under surveillance for at least three months, but Afifi added he’d done nothing to warrant the attention.

WIRED said San Francisco FBI spokesman Pete Lee declined to acknowledge the existence of the device, saying:

“I can’t really tell you much about it, because it’s still an ongoing investigation.”
