Aaron Heitke Named Chief Patrol Agent for San Diego Sector

Aaron Heitke, a 22-year veteran of the Border Patrol, has been promoted to chief patrol agent of the San Diego Sector.

Heitke most recently served as the sector’s deputy chief patrol agent. In 2015, he served as the chief patrol agent for the Grand Forks Sector in North Dakota.

Heitke joined the Border Patrol in 1998, serving at the Wellton Station in the Yuma Sector. In 2004, Heitke became supervisory Border Patrol agent at the Grand Marais Station in the Grand Forks Sector and was named its Patrol Agent in Charge in 2005.

In his current role, Heitke will manage more than 2,400 agents and mission support staff and oversee the sector’s eight Border Patrol stations.

A native of Minnesota, Heitke earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He then earned a juris doctorate at the University of North Dakota School of Law. Before joining the Border Patrol, he practiced law for a short period.

A 25-year-veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol has been named the new chief of the agency’s San Diego Sector.

During a ceremony Thursday in Coronado, Rodney S. Scott was announced as the new sector chief.

“I am honored and elated to assume command of the San Diego Sector. My goal is to provide enthusiastic leadership that empowers the men and woman of the sector to excel,” Scott said, according to the Times of San Diego. “I also look forward to building community partnerships and collaborating with area stakeholders for stronger border security and community safety.”

Scott will be responsible for more than 2,400 border agents and support staff and will provide oversight of eight border patrol stations.

Scott previously served as chief patrol agent of the El Centro Sector, deputy chief patrol agent in San Diego County, and patrol agent in charge at the Brown Field Station.

Scott launched his Border Patrol career on May 11, 1992.

Border Patrol’s San Diego Sector Gets New Deputy Chief Patrol Agent

The Border Patrol’s San Diego Sector has a new deputy chief patrol agent.

Roy Villarreal has been selected to serve second-in-command of the sector, which is headquartered in Chula Vista, Patch.com reports. 

Villarreal replaced Rodney Scott, who was promoted to chief patrol agent of El Centro Sector in February.

Among Villarreal’s duties are providing oversight for more than 2,400 agents and 200 support staff throughout San Diego County and southern Riverside and Orange counties.
