Dozens of Secret Service Employees Ordered to Self-Quarantine After Trump’s Tulsa Rally

By Steve Neavling

The Secret Service ordered dozens of its officers and agents to self-quarantine after attending President Trump’s rally in Tulsa.

The employees were instructed to work from home for 14 days, The Washington Post reports.

Two Secret Service employees were among at least six advance staffers who had tested positive for COVID-19.

Employees who were ordered to self-quarantine also must get tested for COVID-19.

The Secret Service is now requiring agents to be tested 24 to 48 hours before a presidential trip, according to an email obtained by CNN.

“We want to make sure that we have a healthy workforce and that we are protecting our people,” a Secret Service official told CNN. “This is good common sense.”

Trump has been criticized for holding the rally in defiance of federal social-distancing guidelines.

It’s still not clear yet whether the rally led to an outbreak of the virus.

Trump Called the FBI ‘Scum,’ Doubled Down on Debunked Conspiracy Theories at Pennsylvania Rally

By Steve Neavling

President Trump continued to lash out at the FBI at a rally in Hershey, Pa., on Tuesday night, calling bureau leaders “scum” and doubling down on his claims of a debunked “deep state” conspiracy.

Trump’s diatribe came one day after the Justice Department’s inspector general report concluded the bureau didn’t improperly open its investigation into the Trump campaign, nor did it act with bias.

Trump spoke to a boisterous crowd, trying to discredit the report.

“The FBI also sent multiple undercover human spies to surveil and record people associated with our campaign.” Trump said. “Look how they’ve hurt people. They’ve destroyed the lives of people that were great people. That are still great people. Their lives have been destroyed by scum, OK? By scum.”

After the report’s release, Trump also dumped on his FBI director, Christopher Wray, for agreeing with the report’s conclusion that the bureau didn’t act improperly, despite making missteps.

“I don’t know what report current Director of the FBI Christopher Wray was reading, but it sure wasn’t the one given to me,” Trump tweeted Tuesday morning. “With that kind of attitude, he will never be able to fix the FBI, which is badly broken despite having some of the greatest men & women working there!”

Trump Once Again Singles Out NBC Reporter Who Needed Secret Service Protection

Donald Trump verbally attacked NBC reporter Katy Tur during a campaign rally for the third time this election season, even after the Secret Service had to protect her from violence by fans of the GOP nominee.

During a rally in Miami on Wednesday, Trump blasted the media once again and then narrowed his focus to Tur, who has been reporting on the GOP nominee side his presidential bid last summer, the New York Daily News reports.

“We have massive crowds, there’s something happening. They’re not reporting it. Katy, you’re not reporting it, Katy,” he leered, pointing at Tur who was standing on a press riser. “But there’s something happening, Katy. There’s something happening, Katy.”

The Daily News wrote:

Trump’s ostensible vendetta against Tur started last December when he called her a “third-rate journalist” during a campaign rally, prompting the crowd to hurl loud insults at the 33-year-old reporter. Trump was then back at it again during a July press conference when he bluntly told Tur to “be quiet” after she tried to ask him a question.

Tur wrote an essay in April describing how Secret Service had taken steps to protect her after Trump’s initial outburst.

“It’s unlikely that any of Trump’s future attacks will be as scary as what happened in Mount Pleasant (in December), where the crowd, feeding off Trump, seemed to turn on me like a large animal, angry and unchained,” she wrote in the Marie Claire essay. “It wasn’t until hours later, when Secret Service took the extraordinary step of walking me to my car, that the incident sank in.”

Secret Service agents surrounded Hillary Clinton Wednesday afternoon when a protester broke past barricades at a rally and nearly reached the stage where she was speaking.

Video shows the agents tackling the protester, who was an animal-rights advocate. It wasn’t clear why Clinton was targeted at the campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa.

The protester has been identified as Kelsey Atkinson of Chicago.

Clinton continued to deliver the speech as the protester was removed.

Homeland Security’s inspector general is investigating a Secret Service agent who choke-slammed a Time magazine photographer during a Donald Trump rally in Virginia, Politico has confirmed.

Videos taken at the event show a tense exchange between the photographer and the Secret Service agent, who has not yet been identified. One video appears to show photographer Chris Morris chest-bumping the agent before he threw the photo-journalist to the ground.

“We do have an independent investigation regarding that incident,” Arlen Morales, spokesman for the inspector general, said.

Morales said the goal is to have a “short turnaround” on the investigtion.

The Secret Service declined to comment on the investigation, but referred to a previous statement about the episode.

“The matter involving an encounter between a member of the Secret Service and a member of the media is under review and we therefore cannot comment further,” the statement said.

Time has contacted the Secret Service to express concern about the “level and nature” of the agent’s response.
