FBI Agent’s Stolen SUV Was Found, But Handgun Is Missing

First, the good news: An FBI agent’s stolen SUV was found in Pittsburgh.

Now the bad news: The agent’s handgun is missing.

The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for help recovering the stolen Glock 19M 9mm, which was inside the agent’s unmarked black Ford Explorer when the government-issued vehicle was stolen Tuesday afternoon.

The SUV was parked in Schenley Park when it was stolen.

“The FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force, in partnership with Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, are devoting significant resources to locate the weapon, a Glock 19M 9mm, and remove it from the possession of the untrained individual(s) who may have it,” the bureau said in a news release. “All area law enforcement agencies were quickly notified of the theft and are assisting the FBI as warranted.”

Anyone with information on the gun’s whereabouts is asked to call the FBI’s Pittsburgh office at (412) 432-4000.

Investigators in Texas believe they’ve found the handgun used in the murder of a U.S. Border Patrol agent while he was fishing with his family on vacation, Breitbart.com reports.

Scouring an area where the suspects were known to hang out, authorities found a handgun that they believe was used during the botched robbery on Aug. 3.

Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega was fishing with his family in the southern part of Willacy County when two men, one of whom had been deported four times, tried to rob the group.

Vega tried to stop the robbery by firing back, authorities said.

“If it is the weapon it can only help strengthen our case and better prove that they shot him,” Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence said. “Right now we are glad that the weapon was recovered and it didn’t fall into the wrong hands were it could have been used to commit further atrocities.”

Sarah Jo Johnson clutched a handgun, holed up for hours in a car and surrounded by a SWAT team and local officers.

The Associated Press reports that Johnson fatally shot herself instead of surrendering after she and another man were wanted by the FBI for allegedly robbing a Montana coin shop and tying up the shop owner.

The man was struck and injured by a patrol car the chase.

Police were able to track down the pair after a FBI alert on the suspects’ car.
