A former FBI agent who was serving as a voluntary clergy security guard reportedly fatally shot a gunman who opened fire at a Texas Church on Sunday.

The quick actions of the security guard were caught on a video that the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement was live-streaming on YouTube around 10:50 a.m.

The gunman, who had a rifle stashed under his coat, fatally shot two people before the church security guard quickly returned fire. The identity of the security guard has not yet been identified.

Another congregant, who also was serving as a voluntary security guard, returned fire as well, according to media reports.

“Two of the parishioners who were volunteers of the security force drew their weapons and took out the killer immediately, saving untold number of lives,” Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said at a press conference.

Former FBI agent and security expert Greg Shaffer said the quick response by armed guards demonstrates that more houses of worship should consider armed security.

“This incident certainly drives home the critical need of having an armed response,” Shaffer told 5NBC-TV. “Had they not been there, there would have been dozens upon dozens of casualties in that church.”

A former FBI agent accused of lying under oath during the 2013 James “Whitey” Bulger trial has pleaded not guilty, Boston.com reports.

Retired FBI supervisor Robert Fitzpatrick, 75, is charged with six counts of perjury and six counts of obstruction of justice.

Boston.com wrote that Fitzpatrick worked for the FBI from 1965 to 1986 and supervised the organized crime department in the late 1980s.

While investigating organized crime, Fitzpatrick used Bulger as an informant, according to the indictment.

Bulger was convicted in November 2013 and sentenced to life in prison.

The indictment alleges Fitzpatrick made “false material declarations designed to aid Bulger’s defense” while testifying in Bulger’s trial in late July 2013.

A former FBI agent who shot his estranged wife in the chest four times at their home testified that he had no choice but to pull the trigger, Fredericksburg.com reports.

An emotional Arthur Gonzalez insisted Wednesday that he was forced to protect himself when his estranged wife attacked him with a knife.

“Everything was such a blur. I was in disbelief, shock,” Gonzales testified. “Even though we were apart, I still loved her as the boys’ mother.”

Gonzalez, who is charged with second-degree murder, spoke of his turbulent marriage, which led to him filing for divorce in 2012. He said his relationship with his wife was cordial during the separation because of their two sons.

The jury is expected to deliberate today.
