Secret Service Agents Drove Car Into White House Barrier

By Carol D. Leonnig
The Washington Post

WASHINGTON –– The Obama administration is investigating allegations that two senior Secret Service agents, including a top member of the president’s protective detail, drove a government car into White House security barricades after drinking at a late-night party last week, an agency official said Wednesday.

Officers on duty who witnessed the March 4 incident wanted to arrest the agents and conduct sobriety tests, according to a current and a former government official familiar with the incident. But the officers were ordered by a supervisor on duty that night to let the agents go home, said these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive internal matter.

The episode presents an early test for the Secret Service’s new director, Joseph P. Clancy, who was appointed by Obama last month after a string of security lapses at the White House and other embarrassing missteps and had vowed to restore the agency’s once-stellar reputation.

Ex-Secret Service Agent: Obama’s Staff Partied Hard During Overseas Trips

Steve Neavling

The White House staff likes to party.

So says former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino in an upcoming book, “Life Inside the Bubble,” the Baltimore Sun reports.

“The only bad behavior I ever witnessed at these events was by intoxicated White House staff,” Dan Bongino, who is running for office in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District.

Bongino wrote that White House staff often got drunk during overseas trips.

Blago Has Drinking Problem; Could Go to Fed Prison Rehab

By Allan Lengel

It’s certainly understandable that ex-Ill. Gov. Rod Blagojevich would be under a lot of stress. His travails began in  2008 when he was arrested on a number of public corruption charges. Since then, it’s been all down hill.

He was removed from office, and he faced two high-profile, highly-stressful public corruption trials.  Then earlier this month, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Apparently, all the pressure has gotten to him.

Michael Sneed of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Blago has become addicted to alcohol.

“Rod can’t sleep without drinking,” a source told Sneed. “So he drinks himself into a condition to do so, and it became an addiction. Considering what he has been through for the past few years, it became a problem. He’s not addicted to sleeping pills or anything like that.”

The Sun-Times reports that the sentencing judge has recommended that the chatty ex-governor go to a prison rehab program.
