A Utah man accused of killing his wife aboard an Alaska cruise confided in an acquaintance that he did it because she laughed at him, according to FBI documents released Thursday.

Kenneth Manzanares has been charged with charged with the murder of his 39-year-old wife, Kristy Manzanares, after authorities found him and the couple’s room splattered in blood on the 3,400-passenger Emerald Princess, the Associated Press reports

An acquaintance who saw the blood-splattered room asked the husband what happened, and Manzanares allegedly responded, “She would not stop laughing at me.”

The acquaintance then stopped Manzanares from trying to drag his wife’s body to the balcony.

When the 39year-old suspect was searched by the FBI, Manzanares reportedly said, “My life is over.”

The FBI has arrested a suspect in the cruise ship death of a 39-year-old Utah woman.

Time reports the suspect was taken into custody late Wednesday and is expected to be charged today in what federal authorities are calling a domestic dispute that led to the Tuesday night death of a woman aboard the Emerald Princess in U.S. waters off Alaska.

At the time, the ship was carrying 3,400 passengers and 1,100 crew members during a weeklong trip that departed Seattle on Sunday.

Details of the death remain a mystery.

A cruise ship worker is accused of trying to throw a passenger into the water after raping her, Fox News reports.

The FBI said 28-year-old Ketut Pujayasa was arrested Sunday after the Holland America Line vessel returned to Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.

The 31-year-old victim said she was attacked in her stateroom.

“[The woman] then continued to fight for her life by all means available including striking Pujayasa’s exposed genitals as well as utilizing a corkscrew in an attempt to stab him,” agents said Pujayasa told them.

Pujayasa is accused of trying to throw her from a balcony before she managed to escape while they were in international waters off the coast of Honduras.

FBI Investigating Dead Infant on St. Maarten Cruise

By Danny Fenster

FBI Special Agent Dave Couvertier is heading to the island of St. Maarten, a popular vacation spot, but it’s not for fun.

Couvertier will be working with Dutch authorities on an investigation of the death of a newborn baby on a Carnival cruise ship, reports USA Today.

The baby was found in a passenger cabin by a crew member last week the day the ship docked in St. Maarten. The cruise line reported the issue to Dutch authorities on the island, who have taken custody of the body.

The baby’s 20-year-old mother remained in St. Maartens for some time, returning home to the United States only recently. Because the investigation is still under way, little information is being release, including the name of the mother. The local news site reported that she allegedly told investigators she didn’t know she was pregnant, the birth being a surprise.

“We are continuing to gather additional facts about what occurred during the cruise trip,” Couvertier says.

MIAMI – Cruise ship surveillance images show a woman falling overboard hours before her husband reported her missing from the Miami-based Norwegian Pearl last week, U. S. Coast Guard officials said Sunday.
The FBI began an investigation into the woman’s disappearance when the 15-deck vessel returned to the Port of Miami on Sunday morning.
“We’re looking to see if a crime was committed on the high seas,” said FBI Special Agent Michael Leverock.
