Secret Service Agent, Deputy Assaulted While Investigating Threatening Tweets about President

A Secret Service agent and sheriff’s deputy were allegedly assaulted while investigating threatening tweets against President Obama. reports that a 19-year-old Clark County, Ohio, man was arrested at his home after being alerted to online threats against Obama, police and other politicians.

When the deputy and agent approached Ronald E. Skelton II, on his driveway, Skelton allegedly became “belligerent” and defiant, making antigovernment comments. He is accused of punching a detective and agent in the head, causing serious injury, while they tried to check him for weapons.

They wrestled Skelton to the ground and arrested him.

FBI Arrests Indiana Sheriff Accused of Hiring Prostitute, Urging Her to Destroy Evidence

The FBI arrested a county sheriff in Indiana on charges that he paid a prostitute $300 for oral sex and then urged her to hide the evidence, the Courier-Journal reports.

The arrest of Sheriff Danny Rodden comes after he was indicted July 23 on charges of lying to federal agents and counseling the destruction of evidence.

Investigators said Rodden paid for the sex act in a Louisville hotel.

Rodden, 60, also is accused of giving the prostitute a badge and sheriff’s department apparel so she could receive discounts at hotels.

“It is a sad day for Clark County. It is a sad day for all elected and appointed officials who do their best to adhere to the high standards expected of those of us who serve the public,” said U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett, who announced the charges.


Conner Eldrige Nominated for U.S. Atty in Arkansas

WASHINGTON– As part of what seems like a never ending process of filling the U.S. Attorney posts nationwide, President Obama on Wednesday nominated Conner Eldridge to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas.

Eldridge has served as a Special Deputy Prosecutor for the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office of Clark County, Ark. since 2009, the White House said.

He previously worked for Summit Bank and Summit Bancorp, Inc., from 2004 to 2010 in various senior management positions and was ultimately named Chief Executive Officer in 2008, the White House said.
