The family of former FBI agent Robert Levinson wants to meet with the new agency’s new director following recent reports that he was working for the CIA when he vanished, CNN reports.

FBI Director James Comey was supposed to meet with the family before the recent revelations but has delayed his meet-up, the family attorney, David McGree, said.

That meeting will still take place, the FBI said, once Comey become more available after extensive traveling since taking over in September.

Levinson, now 65, was in Iran in 2007 when he went missing.

Iranian authorities insist they don’t have Levinson or know where he is.

The case of the former FBI agent who went missing in Iran six years ago remains a mystery.

There’s no evidence that Robert Levinson is in Iran, the country’s Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told the Associated Press.

“What we know is that he is not incarcerated in Iran,” Zarif said. “If he is, he’s not incarcerated by the government and I believe the government runs the, pretty much, good control of the country.”

It was revealed last week that Levinson was actually working for the CIA when he disappeared.

Washington Post: Ex-FBI Agent Who Disappeared in Iran Was on Rogue Mission for CIA

Robert Levinson

Washington Post Staff Writer

WASHINGTON — An American man who disappeared in Iran more than six years ago had been working for the CIA in what U.S. intelligence officials describe as a rogue operation that led to a major shake-up in the spy agency.

Bob Levinson, an ex-FBI agent, traveled to the Iranian Island of Kish in March 2007 to investigate corruption at a time when he was discussing the renewal of a CIA contract he had held for several years. He also inquired about getting reimbursed for the Iran trip by the agency before he departed, according to former and current U.S. intelligence officials.

After he vanished, CIA officials told Congress in closed hearings as well as the FBI that Levinson did not have a current relationship with the agency and downplayed its ties with him. Agency officials said Levinson didn’t go to Iran for the CIA.

As the U.S. remembers the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination Friday, there is no shortage of conspiracy theories.

Depending on whom you ask, JFK was killed by the CIA, the mafia, Cuban exile groups, the FBI, southern segregationists or the Soviet Union.

The way author and attorney Craig Zirbel sees it, there are only two explanations for President John F. Kennedy’s assassination – either he was killed by a lone gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald, with no motive, or there’s a more complex theory, the Arizona Republic reports.

The Scottsdale attorney has written two books on JFK’s death: “The Texas Connection” in 1991 and “The Final Chapter on the Assassination of John F. Kennedy” in 2010.

He believes Lyndon B. Johnson was behind the assassination 50 years ago Friday.

Former FBI Agent Convinced JFK Assassination Was CIA Plot

William Turner isn’t just any conspiracy theorist.

An FBI agent from 1951 to 1961, Turner was working as a journalist when John F. Kennedy was assassinated. He was a trained investigator and wanted to learn more about the breakdown in security that November day in 1963, CBS 13 reports.

During his investigation, Turner believed there were two shooters and eventually would conclude that the CIA choreographed JFK’s murder.

“I believe the mafia was allied with the CIA in assassinating Kennedy, and I think we’ve proven that and should go ahead with closure — designating it a conspiracy and not a single man’s work,” Turner told CBS 13.

FBI, CIA Could Have Prevented Assassination of JFK Had They Heeded Warnings

The FBI and CIA missed opportunities to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy by not taking seriously enough threats from Lee Harvey Oswald, according to Philip Shenon’s new book, “A Cruel and Shocking Act,” reports the Orland Sentinel.

Days before the assassination, the president’s administration found a threatening note addressed to JFK.

The existence of the letter was never investigated by the Warren Commission because it had been destroyed.

The commission also didn’t know about a memo from former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, who said Oswald even announced he was going to kill JFK, the Sentinel reports.

“There’s tremendous amount of material, much of it has only been released in recent years, that shows that both the FBI and the CIA were very aware of the threat that Lee Harvey Oswald posed,” Shenon said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

The former NSA chief who oversaw the controversial warrantless surveillance found out what it’s like to be spied on Thursday.

While on an Amtrack train, a passenger overheard Michael Hayden complaining about the current administration to reporters in an off-the-record conversation, USA Today reports.

The passenger also happened to be MoveOn activist Tom Matzzie, who tweeted about Hayden’s conversation. “Former NSA spy boss Michael Hayden on Acela behind me blabbing ‘on background as a former senior admin official’ Sounds defensive,” Matzzie (@tommatzzie) wrote initially.

Hayden is a four-star general who headed the CIA and NSA under President George W. Bush, USA Today wrote.
