FBI and Secret Service Reports on JFK Assassination Available

For those who still have fascination about the assassination of John F. Kennedy, this is for you. has announced that it’s publishing FBI and Secret Service reports on the assassination of JFK, according to the Webwire.

The reports were provided to the Warren Commission and held at the National Archives and Records Administration.

The earliest, dated July 3, 1961, nearly 2 1/2 years before the assassination, includes info on FBI interviews with Oswald.

The website has posted a sampling, but is charging $12.95 for the complete collection on a CD-Rom.

Atlanta U.S. Atty. Finds No Bias in Cases Stripper-Loving Fed Judge Handled

Jack Camp, you might recall, was the wild and crazy federal Atlanta judge who got busted with guns and buying drugs for a stripper he was carrying on an affair with.

He went off to prison for a very brief time — three weeks — and was set free in May 2011.

Long after he’d been released, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Atlanta continued to exam cases he had handled to determine if there was any racial bias or signs of mental impairment. There were allegations by the stripper, who cooperated with the FBI, that Camp made some racist remarks. There were also some who claimed his judgment might have been impaired following a serious bicycle accident and subsequent drug use.

Well, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the U.S. Attorney has now concluded that in 28 cases in which defendants had requested a second look at their cases before Camp, there was no evidence of racial bias or mental impairment in sentences or rulings.

“Today, the U.S. attorney has publicly confirmed what I never doubted throughout this ordeal,” Camp said Thursday in an emailed statement to the Atlanta paper. “I am pleased the report vindicates that my decisions were fair, impartial and true to the law.”

FBI Stings Net 8 Miami Officials In Drug and Extortion Schemes

Two undercover FBI sting operations have resulted in charges against eight Miami area officials including a cop, two firefighters and several code compliance officers.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami said the first case involved charges against a lead code compliance officer and four other code officers and two firefighters. They face extortion charges.

The probe began after the lead compliance officer tried soliciting a bribe from a South Beach night club in exchange for not enforcing a large fine for a code violation, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. The owner notified the FBI, which then had an agent pose as a manager .

The agent and the owner then made payoffs to various officials totaling about $25,000 over a seventh period.

In the second case, one of the firefighters involved in the other case, along with Daniel L. Mack, a Miami-Dade police officer, were busted in an FBI sting, similar ones of which have been played out around the country over the years including in Detroit where the feds convicted then-Mayor Coleman A. Young’s common law brother-in-law.

Using Bryant’s car and Mack’s police cruiser, they transported what turned out to be large amounts of dummy cocaine that had been provided by undercover FBI agents. For two transactions, an undercover agent made $25k in cash pay-offs to the defendants.

“When government officials misuse their offices and abuse their power to line their own pockets and satisfy their greed, they erode the public’s trust in good and efficient government,” U.S. Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer said in a statement. “It is incumbent upon all of us to adopt a zero-tolerance policy for corruption, at any level of government. I encourage victims to come forward, report shakedowns of this kind, and help us shine a light on backroom corruption.”

The case was investigated by the FBI Miami-Area Public Corruption Task Force, assisted by the Miami-Dade Police Department Professional Compliance Bureau and United States Customs Border Protection Office of Internal Affairs. These cases are being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jared E. Dwyer and Robin W. Waugh.

Screw Up; No Court Transcript was Created for Mobster’s Confession About NY Cop Killing

Keeping a record in court is a good idea.

But mob expert Jerry Capeci of Gang Land News reports that some how that idea got the short shrift back on December 15, 2008, and no court transcript was ever produced when Colombo soldier Joseph (Joe Caves) Competiello admitted in a sealed Brooklyn federal courtroom that he played a role in the execution of NY cop Ralph Dols. He also admitted having a hand in four mob slayings.

Gangland News described the oversight as a major league foul up.

Last week, the feds had to deal with the problem involving the mobster, who is a prosecution witness in a current case against his former crime family’s boss, Thomas Gioeli, in a murder and racketeering trial.

Gangland News reports that the judge in that case gathered people who were present in the 2008 proceeding, in hopes of reconstructing some kind of transcript to provide to the defense, which could use the materials to impeach the mobster during cross-examination.

But Gangland writes: “And today, not one person who took part in that secret proceeding remembers anything about what Competiello stated that day about his involvement in the execution.

“The slip-up occurred even though everyone in court that day –including three assistant U.S. attorneys, Competiello’s attorney, the judge, and the court reporter – all knew that at some point, Joe Caves would likely be a prosecution witness,” Gang Land writes. “They also knew that when that day came, the government would be required to give a transcript of the guilty plea to lawyers for the defendants.”

Jury Selection to Begin in John Edwards Trial in N.C.

It’s crunch time for ex-Presidential hopeful John Edwards.

Jury selection is set to begin Thursday in federal court in Greensboro, N.C. for Edwards,58, who faces charges that he violated campaign finance laws and accepted illegal contributions, the News Observer reports.

The trial is sure to bring out embarrassing details of his affair while his wife was dying of cancer.

FBI and Secret Service Probe Dozens of Bomb Threats at University of Pittsburgh

The FBI and Secret Service have jumped into a probe involving a ridiculous number of bomb threats at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Daily mail reports that there have been 56 bomb threats since mid-February, prompting professors to start holding classes outside.

The paper reports that investigators have a person of interest and that some threats have been linked to computers in Austria.
