Death: Legendary Federal Judge Harold “Barefoot” Sanders.

 Harold “Barefoot” Sanders, a legendary U.S. District Court judge in Texas, died Sunday in Dallas. He was 83.

 He worked for the Justice Department and later served as a federal judge for 28 years, overseeing the desegration of Dallas schools. The New York Times reported that he was a few cars behind President Kennedy’s motorcade in 1963 and “delivered a federal judge, Sarah T. Hughes, to swear in Johnson as president on Air Force One.”

Secret Service Promotes Keith L. Prewitt

Keith L. Prewitt, a 25-year veteran of the U.S. Secret Service, was recently named deputy director, director Mark Sullivan announced. Prewitt most recently served as assistant director of the Office of Protective Research.

FBI Agents Finch And Henry Promoted

Shawn Henry has been named the assistant director of the FBI’s Cyber Division, according to the FBI. Until recently, Henry served as deputy assistant director of the Cyber Division. Henry replaces James Finch.

James Finch was named special agent in charge of the the FBI’s Oklahoma City field office, the agency announced.  He replaces Michael B. Ward, who is returning to headquarters as deputy assistant director of the Counter-terrorism Division.

Death: DEA Agent Thomas J. Byrne

Thomas J. Byrne, 40, a DEA agent, died Aug. 30. He was robbed and murdered in New Orleans while attending a drug conference.
