FBI Informant Slept With Muslim Women Agency Was Targeting

By Paul Harris
The Guardian

IRVINE, Calif. — Craig Monteilh says he did not balk when his FBI handlers gave him the OK to have sex with the Muslim women his undercover operation was targeting. Nor, at the time, did he shy away from recording their pillow talk.

“They said, if it would enhance the intelligence, go ahead and have sex. So I did,” Monteilh told the Guardian as he described his year as a confidential FBI informant sent on a secret mission to infiltrate southern Californian mosques.

It is an astonishing admission that goes that goes to the heart of the intelligence surveillance of Muslim communities in America in the years after 9/11. While police and FBI leaders have insisted they are acting to defend America from a terrorist attack, civil liberties groups have insisted they have repeatedly gone too far and treated an entire religious group as suspicious.

By Allan Lengel

The FBI probe into Scientology and human trafficking is dead, the Village Voice reports, but the details are fascinating nonetheless.

The newspaper reports that by around June, 2010, the FBI had planned to raid Scientology’s California international headquarters “using high resolution footage shot from drone aircraft, and had also recorded the tail numbers on airplanes owned by Tom Cruise in case Scientology leader David Miscavige should try to abscond from the scene.”

The Village Voice also reported that by the time the New Yorker had revealed the existence of the probe in February 2011, the investigation had been over for about four months.

By Allan Lengel

The murder of 16 Afghan civilians by a U.S. soldier could come back to haunt us here in the homeland.

“The FBI and DHS are concerned that this event could contribute to the radicalization or mobilization of homegrown violent extremists in the Homeland, particularly against U.S.-based military targets,” the bulletin said, according to CNN.

FOX Chicago News

CHICAGO — Pam Davis said convicted former governor Rod Blagojevich has lost his sense of reality.

“I feel a sense of vindication that justice has finally been served,” Davis said. “It’s taken more than eight years, but I do think truth prevailed.”

It has been a long journey for Davis, who has been waiting for this day, waiting for the end of what has been along road for her. She provided the evidence that lead to the FBI’s investigation of Blagojevich.

“The first couple of months I did not have suspicions that it went all the way up to the governor,” Davis said. “But shortly after the second month of working with the FBI, I began to get a sense that this was much more complex and that they tentacles from these individual that were scheming to make money off good works probably did go up to the governor.”
