The Ukrainian government appears to have enlisted the FBI and CIA to help end the rebellion in the capital city of Kiev, AFP reports.

The report indicates that CIA and FBI agents were helping establish an effective security structure after brutal battles between Ukranian soldiers and pro-Russian militants have claimed more than 50 lives in the east side of the country.

The agents, however, were not getting involved with fighting off pro-Russian militants.

“Their activity is limited to the capital Kiev,” AFP wrote, quoting a German newspaper.

The FBI agents also are assisting the government combat organized crime.

Film ‘1971’ Depicts Improbable Break-In at FBI Office By ‘Eight Ordinary Citizens’

The film “1971,” which documents a group’s break-in of an FBI office in a Philadelphia suburb on March 8, 1971, has received both critical and audience praise at the Tribeca Film Festival in April.

They stole every document to expose the FBI, under the autocratic leadership of J. Edgar Hoover, for widespread surveillance of the American people.

At the first screening of the festival on April 19, the thunderous ovations for the eight subjects of the film were extraordinary,” wrote Dade Hayes, contributor for Forbes. “I have covered — and done PR for — almost every edition of the festival and I can’t remember many scenes quite like it.”

The true-life story, which also is a book, depicts the eight buglers as everyday people, many of them raising families.

A U.S. Border Patrol agent is accused of exchanging nude photos with a 15-year-old girl via email, the El Paso Times reports.

Agent Abel Michael Quiroz, 26, was arrested Tuesday on child pornography charges after a search warrant was executed at his La Cruce home.

The search allegedly turned up sexually explicit conversations, along with shared nude photos of each other.

“There is no evidence suggesting that Quiroz’s alleged criminal activities were conducted with government-owned equipment or technology,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

A Minnesota teen, who kept a notebook critiquing school shootings, planned a massacre of his own at his high school and was found with several pressure-cooker bombs, an assault rifle and other guns, the New York Daily News reports.

John David LaDue, 17, planned to kill his family, bomb his school and shoot the surviving students, authorities said.

LaDue had weapons ready for the attack before his neighbor saw him enter a storage unit where he kept the stash of supplies, police said at a news conference Thursday

LaDue “was fully prepared and ready to go,” police said.

Authorities learned of his plot in a 180-page notebook that chronicled other school massacres, which he said was done by amateurs.

Homeland Security arrested more than 600 suspected gang members in what is being called the largest gang crackdown ever by the agency, the Associated Press reports.

The operation, dubbed “Project Southbound,” involved Ice agents and local authorities in 179 cities, leading the arrest of 638 suspected gang members between March and April.

Of those, more than 400 had violent criminal histories and seven were wanted on murder charges.

“These are bad people with bad motives from bad organizations,” said Thomas Winkowski, the principal deputy assistant secretary for ICE.

The arrests happened nationwide in places that include Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Maryland and New Mexico.

The crackdown was part of an initiative to target gangs with ties to other countries.
