It’s adios for a New York imam who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI in connection with an alleged terror plot to blow up the N.Y. subways.

As part of his guilty plea, Imam Ahmad Afzali and his wife left Monday at a 2 p.m. on a flight to live in Saudi Arabia, CNN reported.

He had been cooperating with authorities in the probe into the bombing plot of the New York subway and lied to the FBI about tipping off one of the targets of the plot that the FBI was watching him.

Until his departure, he had been required to wear an ankle monitor.

The public’s fascination with FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, a legend, an enigma, a symbol of law enforcement, a subject of much speculation, continues 38 years after his death.

Capitalizing on that, the National Law Enforcement Museum, which opens in March 2013 in Washington, has “sealed a deal” and gotten the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation to deed over some pretty cool things including Hoover’s office desk, telephone and chair, according to a newsletter by Laurie A. Baty, senior director of the museum.

On top of that, the deeded Hoover collection will include photographs, awards, recordings, correspondence, Hoover’s speeches, and other items “that relate to his life, specifically his tenure as director of the FBI from 1924 to 1972,”  Baty wrote in the museum newsletter.

The newsletter also states:

“Also included in the donation are the papers of Morris Childs, a former high ranking member of the Communist Party in the United States.

“This collection of personal papers includes correspondence, reports, notes, speeches, writings, and interview transcripts relating to FBI surveillance of the Communist Party (known as Operation SOLO) and the relationship between the Communist Party of the United States and the Soviet Communist Party and government.”

“The J. Edgar Hoover Collection is certain to be a crown jewel among the strong collections of the National Law Enforcement Museum,” Baty wrote.

The Museum’s will also include items from Jimmy Stewart’s 1959 film The FBI Story and identity cards used by Joe Pistone during his organized crime undercover work as Donny Brasco, the newsletter said.

Planes and boats aren’t the only way to transport drugs across water.

The DEA said Saturday it helped Ecuadorian officials seize a submarine that could have transported tons of cocaine, the Associated Press reported. It was seized near a tributary close to the Ecuador-Colombia border before it could make its maiden voyage.

AP reported that the sub had a diesel electric-powered engine, air conditioning, periscope and was constructed in a remote jungle area.

Authorities on Friday announced the arrest of  a Mexican gang leader just south of the Texas border in connection with the March murder of a U.S. consulate employee and her husband in the border area of Juarez, the El Paso Times reported.

Authorities said they arrested Jesus Ernesto Chavez Castillo , head of the Azteca gang, who led hit squads.

Castillo told Mexican authorities that he ordered the hit on the Consulate employee Lesley Enrique Redelfs and her husband Arthur Redelfs because she was providing visas to a rival gang, the paper reported. A third person was also killed that day in the attacks.

But the FBI was skeptical.

“We maintain the initial information,” FBI Special Agent Andrea Simmons told the paper. “We have no indication that anyone who was killed was targeted because of their jobs.”

John Pistole No Longer an FBI Man; Sworn in as Head of Transportation Security Administration

After 26 years, John S. Pistole is no longer an FBI agent.

Pistole , the number two person at the FBI, was sworn in Thursday as the head of the Transportation Security Administration after going through a relatively painless confirmation process. The previous two nominees for the job ran into trouble and withdrew their names.

Pistole takes over several months after the public was reminded Christmas day with the underwear bomber in Detroit just how vulnerable it is.

A press release by the TSA said “Under his leadership, TSA will continue to grow as a risk-based, intelligence-driven counterterrorism agency dedicated to protecting our transportation systems.”

A likely candidate to succeed Pistole at the FBI is Timothy Murhpy, who has been assigned to replace Pistole on an interim basis.

Ex-Justice Lawyer Accuses Bosses of Ignoring White Voters’ Rights; Justice Calls Allegations “Baseless”

Former Civil Rights Division lawyer J. Christian Adams and the Justice Department are locked in a war of words over his allegations that his bosses ignored white voters’ rights when charges were dropped against members of the New Black Panthers in a voter intimidation case, the website Main Justice reported.

Allegations were that two members of the militant black group stood outside a Philadelphia polling place in November 2008 and intimidated white voters. One had a night stick.

The Justice Department last year dropped the case, citing lack of evidence and that one of the Black Panthers was a registered Democratic poll watcher.

“You’re supposed to be able to go vote without somebody with a weapon shouting racist slurs at you,” Adams said on Fox New Wednesday. “They said, ‘You’re about to be ruled by the black man, Cracker.’ They called people ‘white devils.’ They tried to stop people from entering the polls.”“It is not uncommon for attorneys within the department to have good faith disagreements about the appropriate course of action in a particular case, although it is regrettable when a former department attorney distorts the facts and makes baseless allegations to promote his or her agenda,” Justice Department spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler told Fox News in a written statement, according to Main Justice.
